In "Ability Development from Age Zero", Dr. Suzuki emphasizes the need for "desire" in practice:

"Children will do what they dislike if they are scolded. However, if they do not have the desire to do it, it will not develop into an ability." When a child has the desire, the ability will become internalized. His life force will reach out and the ability becomes internalized" (p.14).

Scolding does not ignite!
